Formed in small town Tasmania from the ashes of multiple failed outfit attempts, Big Alcatraz began as a Rock’n Roll duo washing their hands of any need for a large ensemble.
Their Debut EP “Bloodhound’s” was released in 2019 but the band truly began in 2017 through a series of jam sessions between lead vocalist and guitarist Lark and drummer Jimmy.
The duo went on to play a handful of shows before a proposal from former band mate and childhood friend Bevan came in the form of “you guys are great! But it would be better with bass”.
Now an Alternative Rock trio with a new found huge sound, the band have worked hard on creating a new album taking care to really capture the live atmosphere of Big Alcatraz, even going as far as scrapping a fully paid for studio recording of the entire album that ultimately the guys just weren’t happy with. The band decided to take on the tracking of the album themselves and now Big Alcatraz have a fresh new sound with the more professionally produced yet still raw 2023 album “responsibility” Out February 9!
