BRENDAN WAKELY

Born and raised in Ireland, coming from a musical family with Irish culture of traditional music and world-renowned blues, rock and jazz Irish artists such as Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, Van Morrison, Christy Moore just to name a few. Brendan has taken all these genres and influences with him across the world and established himself in Australia in 1992 performing and writing his own material which consists of his love of blues & roots , folk, country & Irish Trad in his repertoire. His somewhat tongue in cheek and personnel songs are his life experiences and journey of ups and downs has made him and his music to be heard and related to the common people with similar life experiences. Brendan has a love of acoustic blues and slide as you’ll hear on tracks such as WHAT YOU GOT IS GOOD, YOU MIGHT BE FOOLING YOURSELF, WOTCHA DOIN TO ME. His interpretation and rendition of Irish Songs, Classic Creedence Clearwater Revival song LODI and Jim Reeves WELCOME TO MY WORLD will give you the appreciation of his quality of writing and musicianship, paying his respects to the music and artists that he grew up with in Belfast N.Ireland. Brendan lives in Tasmania where his music grows from the roots of the earth among the hills, mountains , Landscape & history, giving titles to his tunes such as MOUNTAIN PEAK, CRADLE MOUNTAIN RAG, THE SWASHBUCKLER (ERROL FLYNN, GREEN HILLS OF TASSIE & BAY OF FIRES to add to his journey and where he calls home among the Taswegians. His writing and guitar playing is all here to experience and will continue to grow in the soil of Tassie. Brendan is a blues & roots singer guitarist with a blend of folk, country and rock like was Rory Gallagher before, mismatching his influences and culture to produce his unique style and blessing of the blues to the world. His live performances are solo acoustic with rich vocals and raw bluesy acoustic guitar with a dash of ballads such as KING OF DIAMONDS, I CAN SEE AND CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT adding flavour to his shows with beautiful lyrics and melodies to his audiences. In addition to all this, Brendan will sometimes add his own flare to blues standards, adding to the experience of his shows where his listeners are given a treat to remember. Brendan variety of music is not intentional as he writes what he feels and what inspires him at the time but he stills regards himself as a blues & roots singer & guitarist. His release of The Causeway Coast is a true testimony of his craft in songwriting abilities and purely dedicated to  home heritage, people, family and Irish around the globe.
