His work with the Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Saxophone Quartet, Xyris Quartet, Gilmour Ensemble, Hobart Chamber Orchestra, Opus House and Jabra Latham & Friends have earned him critical praise as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician.
Jabra’s recognitions include a Fellowship from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours, a Residency at The Banff Centre and financial support from Arts Tasmania, Creative Partnerships Australia, crowdfunding and private benefactors. Jabra has performed original and standard concerti by Glasunov, Dubois, Kay, Smith, Reed, Reade, Dahl, Gilmour, Larsson, Love and Coghill, and appeared in Australia, the USA, Canada, the UK and South-East Asia.
His proactive involvement with new music has seen the premieres of numerous works by Australian composers, including MB Sibson, Simon Barber, Rafaele Marcellino, Russell Gimour, Timothy Coghill, Don Kay, Simon Reade, Jody Kingston and Constantine Koukias. Jabra has been responsible for the release of six albums of Australian music and is often heard on ABC Classic FM.
He has composed for the concert stage and commercially, with performances of his works having been given in Australia and Europe. Jabra has been a driving force behind many innovative new music ventures, notably Opus House, Gilmour Ensemble and Xyris Quartet shaping the management and artistic direction.
