Since Neolithic times, seasonal winter solstice rites have been held to face the darkness and bring back the light. The Museum of Old and New Art's winter festival Dark Mofo celebrates both ancient and contemporary mythologies, through large-scale public art, food, film, music, theatre, light and noise. Dark Mofo happens in and around Hobart, plus a two-night wilderness road-trip into the dark heart of Tasmania’s winter.

Music Tasmania acknowledges Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the traditional owners of this island, lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay our respects to elders past and present and acknowledge traditional peoples' connection to country. We respect the traditions and customs of the Aboriginal people of lutruwita, who remain the custodians of these lands.
