Formed in 2015, Arcanaut (previously known as Gnarwhale) is a Tasmanian-based progressive
metal project born from the creative synergy of Samuel Marshall, Daniel Hill, Paul Calverley
and Adrian Ianculovici. The band’s early sound melded an intense and relentless cacophony
of diverse influences, heard across their well-received debut EP, 'Colour'.

Arcanaut’s sound has since matured into a more concise and refined style, as heard in their
latest release, 'Devil's Rest'. The first single from their upcoming album, 'Devil's Rest' blends
progressive composition with dynamic and textured vocals. Marshall's vocal work is just as
emotive as their previous oeuvre, however, he and the band are more restrained and focused
in their songwriting and delivery. Devils Rest is a promising return from hiatus from yet
another exciting prospect within the Australian metal scene.
