Cygnet Folk Festival has developed a reputation as one of the premier cultural events in Tasmania’s arts calendar and one of Australia’s most iconic folk music festivals.

In the second weekend in January every year, the small village of Cygnet in the Huon Valley presents a tremendous variety of music, dance and workshops over three wonderful days. Cygnet has a population of less than 1,000 people, but for a small community, this festival has lots of punch and is impressive in its size, scope and quality.

The pubs, halls, cafes, parks and streets of Cygnet come alive with music and dance as mainland and international folk performers converge on the town and visitors flock to share in the atmosphere.

Music Tasmania acknowledges Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the traditional owners of this island, lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay our respects to elders past and present and acknowledge traditional peoples' connection to country. We respect the traditions and customs of the Aboriginal people of lutruwita, who remain the custodians of these lands.
