When Miri was 9 years old she picked up her dad’s guitar, sat down at the piano, and started writing songs. They became a way for Miri to express how she felt, whatever she was going through at the time, sometimes cheerful, sometimes sad. An emotive writer, Miri draws on the experiences of love and connection that are all around her. She writes about her own life and the lives of others.

‘When you play the song you wrote for someone in front of that person…it’s difficult to keep you emotions in check. ‘Just Fine’ is a song that I wrote for a friend who was going through a difficult time, and all I wanted was to let her know that she was going to be fine, she was going to get better.’

Music Tasmania acknowledges Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the traditional owners of this island, lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay our respects to elders past and present and acknowledge traditional peoples' connection to country. We respect the traditions and customs of the Aboriginal people of lutruwita, who remain the custodians of these lands.
