The DK Effect are an 8-piece original soul, funk and gospel-infused RnB band from Australia’s southernmost state. The group’s powerful yet exquisite vocal and focal trinity, Crystal Campbell, Ruby Austin-Lund and Belle Richardson, are a veritable tour-de-force, and Randal Muir (keys), Aleks Folvig (guitar and vocals), Al Tolond (drums), David Johnstone (bass) and Mitch Ellis (sax) deliver grooves as deep as a freshly pressed 45. While the DK Effect’s material focuses on storytelling, melody and harmony, it is also saturated with the passion and polyrhythmic ‘call and response’ vocal synchronicity of gospel music. The DK Effect's debut album 'Moving Time' was released in April 2021, received great reviews and spent 2 months in the top 10 of the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Chart. It was mastered by Grammy Award winner, Dave Darlington at Bass Hit Studios in New York and captures their live, organic and authentic, early funk and soul sound.
The DK Effect have performed at MONA (Museum of Old and New Art), The Moonah Arts Centre, Kickstart Arts, Salamanca Arts Centre, The Taste of Summer Festival, Rektango, the Uni Bar, Street Eats Franko and the Republic Bar, and are in the line-up for the Pangaea Festival.
